Responding to bullying

If you've been bullied:

1.

Tell the one who bullies that you do not like the way they treat you and ask for them to stop

2.

Walk away from the person who is hurting you

3.

Ask a trusted adult for help (e.g. parents/ counsellors/ friends)

4.

Make friends with others and maintain good friendship with others

See someone else being bullied?

1.

Stand up for the one in need - don't watch or join

2.

Speak up for the one in need

3.

Act to provide support for the one in need (e.g. gathering support/ reporting the incident/ setting a good example)

If you think you're bullying others…

1.

Stop your behaviour

2.

Try to understand how your actions make others feel

3.

Apologise

4.

Ask a trusted adult to help you change your behaviour

5.

If you usually hang out with a group of people who bully others, get away from them and find new friends

Responding to bullying on social media

1.

Stop responding or communicating immediately

2.

Block or restrict communication with the cyberbully

3.

Save a copy of the bullying message/ comment/ post, as evidence

4.

Tell or report to a trusted adult about the incident
