Mental health is about how we think, feel and act. We all have mental health, just like we all have physical health. Sometimes we feel well, and sometimes we don’t.
When negative thoughts and feelings start to affect your daily life and stop you from doing the things you enjoy or your ability to feel okay.
Often, there is no singular cause but common reasons include:
1. Life difficulties
2. Physical health problems
3. School, work, money problems
4. Relationship difficulties
5. Family history of mental health problems
Trust your instincts. If you notice a negative change in how you’re feeling, or you find yourself doing things that worry you, speak to someone you trust.
1. | Experiencing mood swings, feeling hopeless, worthless, sad, angry, anxious and/ or numbness |
2. | Changes to eating patterns |
3. | Auditory and/ or visual hallucinations |
4. | Obsessive behaviour or thoughts |
5. | Distancing from others |
6. | Substance abuse |
